I've just spoken to an extremely competent professional. In the videoconference, he was in a T-shirt, unshaven, probably sitting in a café given the background noise. Yet his LinkedIn profile photo gave off a very different impression: elegant suit, impeccable shirt, clean-shaven and well-coiffed, confident look. It was this image that initially inspired my confidence.

It got me thinking: in sectors like hospitality and luxury, where schools stress the importance of smiles, dress and first impressions, these details are often valued more than purely technical skills. It is these qualities that generate well-being and inspire confidence.

Appearance plays a key role in how we perceive and feel about others. Here are a few tips to inspire confidence:

1. Maintain friendly eye contact with your contacts.

2. Adopt an open posture, with relaxed arms and a slightly forward-looking attitude.

3. Offer a genuine, warm smile.

4. Wear clean, stylish clothes.

5. Surround yourself with a clear, orderly environment, with soothing colours (blue, green) and natural light.

6. Incorporate symbols of stability, such as natural elements or objects that evoke sustainability.

7. Be in the company of authentically connected people.

Do you have any other suggestions for how to inspire confidence?
