I just learned that the Vietnamese have two distinct places of worship.

A TEMPLE

Temples house specific gods or figures such as the protective warrior, the promoter of education, the provider of wealth, the keeper of happiness, or the healer of health. Devotees pray fervently there, asking for good fortune. These intangible entities respond to their requests and expect substantial offerings in return. Those who fail to comply may face the wrath of these powerful spirits.

A PAGODA

Pagodas house Buddhas who encourage silence and introspection, offering nothing but a reflection of our own strength and perfection. They are merely present and welcome everyone without judgment of their actions or the quality of potential donations.

This distinction leads me to clarify the difference between "Management by Objectives" and "Conscious Leadership."

MANAGEMENT BY OBJECTIVES

"Management by Objectives" was developed after World War II and Taylorism. No longer could people be led merely by the whip and fear. Instead, a carrot had to be invented: set a clear objective, measure it regularly, and offer a significant bonus based on its achievement. This approach closely resembles the context of Vietnamese temples, where the all-powerful spirit is the leader-manager.

CONSCIOUS LEADERSHIP

"Conscious Leadership" encourages leaders to take breaks to observe whether they are aligned with their purpose, values, and needs. Committed to maintaining a benevolent relationship with everyone, they do their best without expecting anything in return but say thank you daily for each small gift received and maintain their trust in those to whom they have decided to give it. This approach corresponds to the philosophy of Vietnamese pagodas, with the leader as a sage on a path to enlightenment, liberation, sanctity, nirvana, satori, or whatever name you want to give to someone evolving to become the best version of themselves.

And you, what kind of leader are you?

And which one generate exponantial abundance for all?
