That's how a good Valaisan wants to know where you come from... so he can assess you!

In my case, I can trace my ancestry
to my tenth ancestor, Christoph, who was born 294 years before me. He walked 130 km across the Bernese Alps to settle in Varen, at the foot of the Leuk valley.
of the Leuk valley. I don't know what drove him, but it certainly wasn't the lure of money, because my family went up the valley and settled at an altitude of 1400 metres in the cold, harsh territory of the mountains,
where they stayed for almost 200 years.

My grandfather also came down from the mountains in search of work, and practically did the ‘Tour de France’ to become a cabinetmaker and carpenter.
carpenter.

These stories of wandering and entrepreneurship resonate with me. They're in my genes and will always run in my veins. My father was the same way, and perhaps that's why I was able to settle 9,000 km from where I was born.

Knowing where we come from helps us to understand certain characteristics of our behaviour. Deep-rooted experiences are repeated from one generation to the next and are the seeds of the
belief systems. Listening to the stories of your elders is a beautiful and gratifying sharing experience that I encourage you to do while your parents are still alive.
